Sugarbeet insect projections with NDSU’s Dr Mark Boetel
Spring is fast approaching, and Red River Valley Sugarbeet Producers are going to need to be aware of a number of harmful insects during the planting, and growing seasons. Dr Mark Boetel of NDSU Extension says one of the insects that producers will need to be on the lookout for is Sugarbeet Root Maggot.
Boetel says an early spring could lead to an early emergence for a number of different insects including root maggot.
As for other things producers will need to be aware of, Boetel says springtail is another thing that could appear in sugarbeet fields across the valley.
