Hillsboro Pool Committee presents to School Board

The Hillsboro Pool Committee held their public meeting on February 10th to gauge community interest in the project. On Friday morning the pool committee brought their ideas to the school board to hear their interest in bringing a new pool to Hillsboro. Superintendent Jon Dryburgh shares the thoughts of the board.

The biggest hurdles in a project of this size are the location and the funding. Dryburgh speaks to the potential options the pool committee could have and how the school could be involved.

At the moment, neither the school board nor the pool committee are in a position to put shovels in the ground on a new school or pool but both recognize the need for each future project to grow the community. Paul Geray talks about the desire to move forward with a community project sooner rather than later.

The pool committee listed seven options for land to build on with the school being just one of those options and some others are non-city owned land that haven’t engaged in sale discussions. The pool committee will continue to meet and welcomes all community input.
