Two people are facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday in East Grand Forks.  32-year-old Christopher Anthony Gaines of Grand Forks and 35-year-old Raelyn Marie Peltier of Crookston were both charged after a Thursday traffic stop by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper.  According to court documents filed in Polk County District court, Gaines was pulled over on US Highway 2 shortly before noon Thursday after a trooper saw Gaines’ vehicle didn’t have a front license plate.  The driver gave a false name, but the trooper saw a North Dakota ID with Gaines’ name.  A records check found an active arrest warrant for Gaines issued by the Minnesota Department of Corrections…and Gaines was taken into custody.  The complaint alleges Gaines handed methamphetamine to Peltier to hide as the trooper approached.  Gaines and Peltier are both in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center.
