Mahnomen School Board Meets 

The Mahnomen School Board had further discussions regarding a new cell phone policy, after deciding to not go forward with a yonder pouch system earlier this year. Mahnomen Superintendent Andrea Simon says they’ve been collecting student feedback regarding cell phones, which will help the board make its decision. 

The Mahnomen School Board has some seats up for election this fall, and Simon says the filing period will open in July. 

Simon says the board also approved a number of staffing items, including the hiring of a teacher and activities director. 

Simon says the district will also be looking for feedback from the community, in regards to a potential donation from Enbridge energy. 

Other items from Monday’s meeting included administrative reports, the approval of a quote for the re-keying of the school, minor school calendar change, and a discussion about curriculum.
