The impact of enrollment fluctuation on school funding
Every summer while they discuss budgets, school districts will often reference enrollment increases and decrease, especially when making decisions to add or cut budgets. Why is this? Ada Borup West Superintendent Aaron Cook says it’s because enrollment is directly affected by the amount of state funding that a school district receives.
Cook says another example of the impact this can have on a budget is at his own school district Ada Borup West, which is expected to see a sizable decrease in enrollment from this school year to next school year.
Cook was a guest on the Kaleidoscope program, which airs weekdays at 9:00 AM on KRJB 106.5 FM.
