On Tuesday, 19-year-old Cornelio Christian Vasquez IV was charged with homicide while fleeing a police officer, manslaughter, fleeing a police officer resulting in risk of death or serious injury, two counts of endangerment and reckless driving…all in connection with a crash early Sunday morning in Cass County that killed 49-year-old Ian Frye of Christine, North Dakota. It turns out Vasquez was out on bond for a June 17 incident on Interstate 29 in Grand Forks County.  He had been charged with reckless endangerment-extreme indifference plus driving while under suspension.  Vasquez was released on $5000 bond.  According to court records, Vasquez had nine previous driving under suspension offenses over the past five years…as well as a July 17 charge of hindering law enforcement. Grand Forks County Court records also show Vasquez had several open cases this year, including violation of a civil protection order, unlawful use of a license and possession of alcohol by a minor.
