History of the county fair in American culture
Today marks the start of the 130th Annual Norman County Fair, and while that may be a long standing tradition in our history, did you know that the origin of county fairs in the United States goes back far further than 130 years? R&J Ag Reporter Nick Revier tells us more.
Revier says as the growth in popularity continued to rise, specifically after the creation of state fairs, the fair became a place where companies could showcase the newest technology, and entertainment.
While entertainment is the main draw for a lot of county and state fairs across the country, Revier says the agricultural origins are still very prevalent in the fair scene today.
