Weekend Accident In Naytawaush

NAYTAWAUSH, MN—A man from Moorhead was taken to jail after his vehicle went off the road, jumped an approach and landed on a building Saturday night in Naytawaush.  Mahnomen County Sheriff Josh Guenther tells R&J News deputies and the Naytawaush Ambulance responded to a call at 8:21 pm Saturday about the accident.  A person inside the building was not injured.  The driver, 36-year-old Charles Ortely of Moorhead, was found later several hundred yards from the crash scene and was captured after a short chase on foot.  There were pills and several alcohol bottles inside the vehicle…and Ortely appeared to be intoxicated, but he refused a sobriety test.  Witnesses told law enforcement that Ortely had arrived at a party before the crash and was already intoxicated.  Ortely was taken to jail after he was medically cleared.
