Woman Arrested After Showing Handgun At Birthday Party
A cake and presents are acceptable things to bring to a child’s birthday party. Handguns aren’t, as a West Fargo woman discovered this week. Around 9pm Tuesday, Police were called to the Arbors apartment complex in Fargo about a disturbance involving a firearm. Witnesses told Police that Latoya Hughes showed a handgun during a dispute and threatened people at the birthday party, including a mother and her two week old child. According to police documents, security video showed a woman matching Hughes’ description getting out of a vehicle with the handgun and walking toward the group with children nearby. Police say Hughes fled the scene, but she was found and arrested in West Fargo. She faces charges of terrorizing and reckless endangerment. Police documents also say a 15-year-old boy was detained at the scene. Police say they found a Glock 48 handgun with ten rounds of ammunition in a bag the boy was carrying. He was taken to the Clay County Juvenile Detention Center.
