Fosston City Council Meeting Tonight
The City of Fosston will be having its next City Council meeting later tonight, Monday September 14th, at 7pm where one of the biggest ticket items of discussion will be the decision to be made regarding the stoplight on highway 2 and Johnson. This has been one of the most hotly discussed topics in the town for some time now as the current stoplight will need replacing and there are 2 options on the table at this time;
- Replacing it with a new stoplight which would involve a property tax increase and routine maintenance from the city.
- Replacing it with a mini-roundabout which would be free to the city
The City has already held 2 public discussions that also were available to attend via zoom and posted a survey to the city website in an attempt to gauge public opinion though the city did hold the stance that it wasn’t a public vote, merely an effort to check in on public opinion before the vote tonight among city council members will ultimately decide which direction they go.
Also on the tab for this evening’s meeting will be the routine reports from the committees, boards, and commission as well as the approval consideration for the chief of police, the considered approval for the application for exempt permit from the Rotary Club of Fosston, as well as many other items.
