Minnesota Opioid Deaths
For the third straight year, there’s been a decrease in the number of opioid related deaths in Minnesota. A new report from the Minnesota Department of Health shows 671 people in the state died from opioid-involved overdoses in 2025—down from 1039 back in 2022. Epidemiologist Mary DeLaquil talks about the decrease.
The Health Department’s study also found that for every one Minnesotan who died of a drug overdose in 2025, 14 were treated in a Minnesota hospital and survived a drug overdose.
