(Aitkin, MN) — The VELYS Robotic Assistant has been playing an integral part of total knee replacements for Riverwood Healthcare for the start of 2022. The system provides up-to-the-second information for the surgeon to have precise knowledge to perform the best operation possible.
We spoke to Physician Assistant Tom Lewandowski about the use of robotic surgery and the impact of the VELYS early on.
The use of the VELYS Robotic system aids the surgeon in developing the proper plan for better surgical results.
The use of this robotic technology does not take away the surgeon’s ability to operate but use the information for that specific patient’s knee.
Lewandowski also says that post-surgical rehabilitation has seen some reduction in recovery but hard numbers are still months away from concrete evidence.
