Fertile-Beltrami School Board News & Notes from March 8th Meeting
Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, March 8th. At the meeting, the board meeting made a unique decision to not participate the annual Student Survey. The Student Survey is coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Health and polls students anonymously about their habits and experiences, but Fertile-Beltrami Superintendent Brian Clarke says the board felt it was in the best interest of the district to not participate.
According to the Department of Education, students respond to questions in the survey on school climate, bullying, out-of-school activities, healthy eating, emotional health, substance use and connections with school and family. Questions about sexual behaviors are asked only of high school students.
In other news from this week’s meeting, the board approved a number of staffing items, including the spring coaching assignments and the resignation of their Ag Teacher.
The Fertile-Beltrami School Board also took action on and approved new backboards in their gym, according to Clarke.
New pole vault pits were approved this week as well.
And the board had some discussion on some possible removal of their modular classroom and greenhouse as they look to begin their secure entrance project.
The board also approved a new contract for Fertile-Beltrami Superintendent Brian Clarke.
