Lake Park City Pool to Stay Closed this Summer While Repair Assessments Are Made
Lake Park, MN — For the first time in more than four decades, the Lake Park city pool will not be open this summer. The Lake Park City Council voted this week during their regular monthly meeting to keep the pool closed this year while they assess its condition and how to repair it. The pool opened 44 years ago and has been a hot spot for kids to cool down learn how to swim ever since. However, the Lake Park City Council feels the pool is no longer safe for public use. Lake Park City Administrator Lonnie Nuener also added that its also leaking thousands of gallons of water a day, which is costing the city significant amounts of money.
The council is seeking requests for proposals to potentially hire a consultant to assist them in their next steps regarding the pool and get an idea for the costs for repairs or replacement. A citizen ran committee formed last year to save the pool and raise money for it, but Nuener stated that they need to get a cost estimate before they go any further.
