(Northern MN) — The Northland Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy Board recently awarded $4,360 in grants this winter to support children-and-youth projects in Northern Minnesota and the 5 Native communities they serve.

The grants came from the KIDS PLUS Youth in Philanthropy Board made up of middle and high school students from across Northern MN who review and make grantmaking decisions with guidance from volunteer adult mentors. Each grant awarded was worth up to $1,000 each and supported school and community projects developed by children and youth in the region.

The REACH Mentoring Program was awarded a $250 grant to create better opportunities for Cromwell-Wright students and staff to learn about and use Restorative Practices to address and de-escalate conflict and underlying problems. Another $250 grant was awarded to support a peer group mentoring program for the Wrenshall School Chapter that spreads suicide awareness, destigmatizes mental illness, and supports peers.
