Aitkin City Council meeting from May 2nd

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council held their first meeting of the month of May on Monday with discussion on the meeting with the Economic Development Authority with a new business, Smokey Jake’s BBQ, from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
The Council did approve a Special Event Permit for AHS Class of 1942 Reunion to use the Park Gazebo on August 6th from 10am-2pm.
Mayor Megan Workman noted the City will be selling Poppy’s for the American Legion and VFW.
City Administrator Mike Skrbich highlighted the letters of support for the future Water Tower project.
Skrbich also noted the Board of Appeals is open to City of Aitkin residents on May 5th from 9am-5pm at the Aitkin County Assessor’s Office, which gives the chance for residents to dispute their property valuations.
Loans for Smokey Jake’s BBQ, which is opening a permanent location at the old Aitkin Medical store, were discussed with the City’s EDA and were brought to the Council for approval.
The resolution was approved. The Aitkin City Council meets again on Monday, May 16th at 6pm from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
