Mahnomen City Council News & Notes from May 3rd Meeting
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, May 2nd. At the meeting, the council approved a number of items in relation to the City Hall and Library renovation project. Mahnomen City Administrator Kari Kirschbaum says they approved bids to start work on library renovations, accepted a grant for city hall technology updates, and applied for another grant to aid accessibility.
The Mahnomen City Council also agreed this week to use $20,000 from their American Rescue Plan funds for some updates to the Wild Rice Lounge as well, according to Kirschbaum.
The council received an update on Monday night from the Headwater Regional Development Commission, who is planning to build a new home in the community and improve transportation as well.
And Kirschbaum adds the planning for the annual Wild Rice Day is well underway and is excited about this year’s event.
The Mahnomen City Council is scheduled to meet next on Monday, May 16th. An open house for the new fire hall is also being planned for May 21st from 10am until 2pm.
