Safe Route Connection Project to begin Committee meetings later this month

(Brainerd, MN) β€” Plans are in place to start evaluating the Safe Route Connection Project between the Miller Black Bear ATV Trail and nearby cities within Crow Wing County, says the Crow Wing County Land Services Department.

This project would also include several steps to support a comprehensive evaluation of potential routes and is expected to result in a final committee recommendation by the end of 2022. Alternatives for a Safe Route Connection that meets the diverse recreation user types and community members with the goal is β€œTo determine options for a safe ATV route to connect users to local communities.”

Crow Wing County has contracted with Covetrail Partners, a Minnesota-based non-profit, to manage the project. The Safe Route Committee is an 11-person group representing interests and expertise in conservation law enforcement, mountain biking, ATV riders, snowmobiling, area business owners, local cities and townships, and the DNR.

The first meeting of the Safe Route Committee will be held on Monday, May 23rd from 6-8pm in Meeting Rooms 1 and 2 in the lower level of the Land Services Building, 322 Laurel Street, Brainerd, MN.
