(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners received an update on the American Peat Technology/Brother Justus Whiskey partnership, Zoning Ordinance Amendments, among other action items from the Government Center Board Room.

Representatives from American Peat Technology and Brother Justus Whiskey gave an update on the partnership over the last 2 years.

Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom presented a Zoning Ordinance Amendment on the number of new CERVID Farms.

The amendment was approved as well as the Greater Minnesota Recycling and Composting Grant contingent upon Lawyer review. Facilities Manager Jim Bright spoke before the Board about the storm damage sustained to the Aitkin County Fairgrounds.

Bright also noted the removal of a 10,000 gallon tank by the HHS Building and the removal of a maple tree in the front of the Courthouse. Aitkin County Sheriff Dan Guida presented an Emergency Management Declaration in order to receive recovery funds from Minnesota.

The Board did approve resolutions including donations to Search & Rescue from Clark and Seavey Townships, Snowmobile and Ski Trails GIA Funding, and the 2021 Annual Apportionment of Forfeited Tax Sales.

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet on Tuesday, June 14th starting at 9am from the Government Center Board Room.
