Minnesota State Patrol Offers Winter Driving Reminders
Minnesota — Winter is coming whether we want it to or not and Jesse Grabow with the Minnesota State Patrol is reminding motorists to prepare for and adjust for conditions with the first winter storm of the year just around the corner. Something that can help keep you on the road this winter is a good set of tires, and specifically winter tires. Sgt Grabow says if your tires are worn out, you’re going to struggle for traction all winter long.
The first winter storm of the year typically brings out the worst winter driver in all of us as we relearn how to adapt to snowy and icy conditions. Grabow says slow down, adjust to the conditions, and leave the cruise control off.
Also before you hit the road, Sgt Grabow recommends checking the area road conditions and making travel adjustments as needed, such as taking a different route or leaving at an earlier time.
And now is the time to update your winter survival kit as well. Grabow says before you hit the road make sure you have a way to communicate, a way to stay warm, and some snacks and water in the event you become stranded for long periods of time.
