Wake the Lakes “Moron Lawbreaker for the Week”: Man Calls Police More Than 2,000 Times to Insult Them”
Calling police more than 2,000 times in nine days just to call them explicitly bad names will get you arrested — at least in Japan. Police say they received 2,060 angry phone calls between September 30th and October 8th (that’s roughly 229 calls per each of those 9 days or so) from a 67-year-old man who repeatedly hurled insults at them and called them “tax thieves.” Police finally had enough and paid a visit to the man, who greeted them at the door and said, “I knew the police would come for me someday.” Well, “someday” finally came and he was charged with interfering with the police. A deeper dive into his disdain for police found that he had actually been making harassing phone calls for years, but only recently ramped it up.
