Curriculum Now Available for Area History Museums
Ada, MN — You can learn a lot about your local history by visiting your local history museum, but now through a partnership with the Minnesota Historic Northwest Consortium, they hope educators will begin including it in their lesson plans. A handful of the local county heritage museums, including Polk County and Norman County, recently created a social studies curriculum that meets Minnesota State Standards. Solveig Kitchell, retired teacher and Norman County Historical Society Director, says this is an exciting opportunity that will hopefully provide more students the opportunity to experience their buildings and exhibits.
Kitchell says they hope to have their curriculum, which is designed for students in grades 3-6, ready for the spring. The curriculum was written by Trident Educational Consulting though a grant from the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.
