Fischbach Responds to Speaker of the House Vote
After weeks of delays and infighting the United States House of Representatives have elected a new Speaker of the House. After the second Republican Speaker nominee Tom Emmer withdrew from contention House Republicans met again and nominated Congressman Mike Johnson of Louisiana. Soon after all of Congress met and Johnson was elected as the next Speaker of the House receiving 220 votes for and 209 against.
Minnesota’s 7th District Representative Michelle Fischbach sent out a newsletter shortly after and said the following “Mr. Johnson is a proven conservative. I was honored to work with him on the Judiciary Committee, and I am confident that, as Speaker, he will move forward with an agenda that reflects the values and priorities of the American people, We have a lot to accomplish, and I trust that Mr. Johnson will lead Congress from a position of strength as we continue to fight for the values of American families and against the Left’s spending spree and extreme ‘woke’ priorities.”
The next step for Congress is to come up with a solution on the Government funding bill that has a deadline that runs through November 17. If Congress is unable to come to a solution the Government will shut down.
