American Farm Bureau forms new partnerships with mental health groups
American Farm Bureau Federation Vice President Scott VanderWal says the Bureau has formed new partnerships in order to bring free mental health care to rural areas across the country, as they continue their focus on the mental health of ag producers across the country. VanderWal shares more.
Past studies done by the CDC and other menatal health organizations claim that individuals in farming have experienced a rate of suicide 3.5-5.0 times higher than general population, with a rate of approximately 84.5 suicides per 100,000 people making farmers one of the groups most at risk of suicide.
