After the resignation of Josh Matheson last month the Ada City Council was tasked with filling the vacant spot at their council meeting on Tuesday. Two individuals Jim Austinson and Eric Ness had expressed interest in serving out the rest of Matheson’s term that will expire in November of 2024. Jim Austinson, now retired, served over 30 years in the police department and had past experience on the Ada City Council serving on it for over 10 years. Eric Ness also has a long history of serving the community as he has been in the Ada Fire Department for 20 years and was also the Dekko Center Director for over 10 years.

After the council heard statements from Austinson and Ness the Ada City Council approved the appointment of Eric Ness to the open council seat. After being sworn in by Mayor John Hintz Ness took his seat at the council table for his first duties as councilman.
