Ada Mayor Facing DWI Charges
Ada, MN — A local Mayor is facing DWI charges following an incident back in November. According to court records, the Norman County Sheriff’s Office received a report on November 2, 2022 at around 4pm of a vehicle in the ditch in the area of 150th Ave and 200th St in southwestern Norman County. Upon arrival, a sheriff deputy discovered a white Dodge pickup had entered the ditch and overturned. The driver, 36-year-old John Hintz of Ada, and a passenger had no major injuries.
The deputy who responded immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the driver and signs of impairment. A pair of field sobriety tests were issued for Hintz, and he failed both.
A urine test was then taken later that evening, which came back with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.22, which is nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08. Hintz faces a charge of 3rd Degree DWI and a charge of reckless driving. He will make his first appearance in Norman County District Court on February 15th.
John Hintz has been Mayor of the City of Ada since November 2019 and has been on the city council since 2015.
