Ada Police Chief Discusses No-Knock Warrants

Ada, MN — The subject of “No-Knock” warrants has been a hot topic in the state of Minnesota recently following the death of Amir Locke, who was shot and killed by SWAT officers from the Minneapolis Police Department who were executing a no-knock search warrant in a homicide investigation. Ada Police Chief Jody Bueng used the opportunity during his monthly KRJB Kaleidoscope Program to further explain no-knock warrants and their purpose. Bueng says no-knock warrants are not easy to obtain and are only used in very specific situations.

Chief Bueng adds that typically the no-knock warrants are carried out by highly trained individuals, and although very uncommon in this part of the state, would likely be carried out by a different agency if one were to be conducted locally.

And even when a regular warrant is issued local departments, Bueng says they require a lot of resources and require assistance from a number of area agencies to be executed properly.
