Ada, MN — There’s been some questions and concerns in recent months as to why sometimes in Norman County it may take several months after an incident occurs for there to be any formal charges. Well Ada Police Chief Steve Hagar says it’s not for lack of effort from the officers investigating the incident or the courts themselves. He adds that specifically here in Norman County, a lack of resources because of the size of the county can slow the process down.

Chief Hager adds that any time a chemical test needs to be sent in and analyzed, it can be several months before they get the results back and the local County Attorney can press charges.

Hager says the BCA is working on new machines and hiring more staff to increase the turnaround on the tests and speed up the process.
