After Late Start, Farmers Remain Optimistic About Crop Conditions

Ada, MN — General optimism seemed to be a common sentiment during this week’s KRJB Farm and Field Show. Most farmers felt the crops were in pretty good shape despite a late start due to a wet spring and now a dry summer is slowing things down a little as well.

Dwight Heitman who farms near Ada is pleased with progress, but notes that is varies from field to field.

Dave Mueller of the Hillsboro region says while they’ve missed some of the heavy winds and hail, they’ve also missed the rains that came with it and they could use a good soaker.

Despite being a little behind, Jason Siegert, also of the Hillsboro area, says the quality of the crop is very good and it’s slowly starting to catch up to where it should be for this time of year.
