After Long Career, Robin Stene Retires from Valley United Co-op
Halstad, MN — After 45 years in the grain and agronomy business, and 40 of those at the Halstad Elevator Company and Valley United Co-Op, Robin Stene is calling it a career. Today is his last day as Chief Operating Officer at the co-op in Halstad before he retires. Stene, a regular guest on the KRJB Farm and Field show over the years, joined us for one last conversation on Wednesday. He admits it’ll be odd coming out of the Independence Day holiday and not heading back to office.
Stene shared that one of the unique aspects of his four-decade career at Valley United Co-op was working with his wife for a majority of that time span.
Throughout his career, Robin was a key player in the building of the Alton Grain Terminal, Alton Agronomy LLC, and most recently the formation of Valley United Co-op through the merger of the Halstad Elevator Company and Reynolds United Co-op. He also oversaw the building of the Valley United Fertilizer Plant near Hatton and Portland.
Valley United Co-op will be hosting a celebration of Robin Stene’s career coming up on Thursday, July 14th from 5-8pm at the Halstad LRC. Supper will be provided and are welcome to attend.
