Agriculture Conversation With Rep. Deb Kiel

Just before the Legislature’s annual Easter Break, the House passed funding to address the breakout of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the state. The Senate added an amendment to provide $1 million in funding to the Agriculture Department to address avian influenza and the House repassed the amended bill. It now heads to Gov. Tim Walz. During an agriculture conversation on Q-Country’s Crop and Livestock Show, State Representative Deb Kiel spoke about the funding appropriation.

The avian influenza poses little or no risk to humans. It has been found in flocks in 12 counties since March 25.
