(Aitkin, MN) — Even with snowflakes flying around and keeping the spring weather at bay for a few more days, preparing for the open water fishing season for the Aitkin Anglers will entice their record number of participants and boat captains for 2022.
In our conversation with Anglers coach Dan Borseth said this year’s team has seen an increase not in anglers, but also for boat captains to help get the kids on the lake.
The Anglers schedule, running from late Spring through Summer into early Fall, keeps them on the road and fishing in different parts of the country.
The high school students have the opportunity to enjoy their passion of fishing and also find the opportunity to further their education.
Borseth also noted some of the new boat captains’ experience that can help the Anglers with their performance.
Compensation for boat captains is a priority for Borseth and the Anglers with all of the fundraising and projects they’re a part of throughout the year.
