Aitkin City Council meeting from April 4th

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council recognized a longtime employee who will be retiring while reviewing ordinance amendments to the City’s Zoning & Subdivision Code from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library on Monday, April 4th.
Mayor Megan Workman recognized the retirement of Greg Handt from the Streets Department after 35 years of service.
City Administrator Mike Skrbich gave an update on the 2022 Fourth of July Fireworks.
The Fourth of July Fireworks for Aitkin will be set for Monday, July 4th followed by the Aitkin County Fair July 6-9. Administrator Skrbich gave final determination on the definition of a Tow Yard and Auto Repair for Ordinance 405 Amending Chapter 152 Zoning & Subdivision.
Mayor Workman also clarified on Ordinance 406 Amending Chapter 152 Zoning & Subdivision and making sure slaughter regulations are enforced.
Those ordinances, as well as Ordinance 407 Allowing Residential PUD from an excluded use in the DMU district.
The Council did approve Consent Agenda Items including resolutions of Authorizing Electronic Funds Transfers, Authorize signing authority & Access to MGA, Approve MN Joint Powers Agreement & Authorize signing authority; Contracts for State of MN Joint Powers, Court Data Services Subscriber Amendment to CJDN Agreement, and Real Estate & Civil Matter City Attorney Legal Services; A Special Event Car Show at the American Legion for multiple dates; and Gambling Permit for Ducks Unlimited on June 16th.
The Aitkin City Council next meets on Monday, April 18th from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
