(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council meeting from Monday, June 6th featured action on upcoming events with the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce and an offer from Bremer Bank on financial opportunities for the City.

The Council did move to accept a construction agreement with MnDOT for work on resurfacing work on TH 210 from the Ripple River to the north junction of TH 169 and on TH 169 from the north junction of TH 210 to the Mississippi River, and the 21022 Year End Audit from CliftonLarsonAllen LLC.

Executive Director for the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce Taylor Erickson spoke before the Council on the 2nd annual “Paddle Your Glass Event”.

The Special Event Permit and Temporary Liquor License was approved by the Council. The “Paddle Your Glass Off” event will be June 25th, go to www.aitkin.com for more details and to register.

Lon Nicko from the Street Department requested permission to participate in an Interactive Career Fair set for September 21st in Aitkin.

The Council approved the request from Nicko. 

City Administrator Mike Skrbich mentioned to the Council of adding a credit card as offered by Bremer Bank.

The Council approved the offer for the credit card.

Council member Jason Henke brought forth his research on the needs of improvements for the City Park.
