Aitkin County Board meeting from Tuesday, September 13th
(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners Tuesday went into further detail on their 2023 Preliminary Budget and Legislative Priorities while hearing from various Departments on monthly updates.
Following the Budget Presentation from the Land Department, Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers presented Community Grant Program awards for Board approval.
The grant awards were approved as well as a letter of support for the Lifelong Recovery Center to provide chemical dependency services for Aitkin County. County Administrator Jessica Seibert mentioned at the beginning of the 2023 Proposed Preliminary Budget presentation that the Tax Levy will be set at a reasonable level before final approval.
The Board did set the Preliminary Tax Levy at 5.68% with adjustments to be made before the end of the Fiscal Year. Administrator Seibert did also present the Legislative Priorities for 2023, which has seen some change since then the 2022 Legislative Session closed.
County Engineer John Welle gave Commissioners the 2021 Annual Report with increased activity and maintenance on Aitkin County roads.
The Board ratified the 2021 Annual Report and approved a Fiscal Recovery Funds request of $560,000 to the Highway Department for Lost Revenue.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet on Tuesday, September 29th at 9am from the Government Center Board Room.
