(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioner held their second regular meeting of April on Tuesday from the Government Center Board Room and held discussions on Economic Development, the annual Assessment Summary, Environmental Services, and the 1st Quarter Budget Review.

Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers spoke to the Board on a request of funding for the Economic Development Communications Project from the Fiscal Recovery Fund.

Commissioners did approve allocating $45,000 to Economic Development and recommended awarding Strelligent as the bid winner for communications consulting which will be decided at a later meeting. Jeffers did also open discussion on developing a designated river trail system.

Discussion did not lead to action from the Board at this time. County Assessor Mike Dangers did also talk to Commissioners on the annual Assessment Summary Report.

Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom presented to the Board on approving the conditions of the conditional use permit for the Gun Lake Family Campground.
