(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners second meeting of June heard an update on the upcoming Aitkin County Fair, reviewed an amendment to the first reading of the Solid Waste Ordinance among other topics covered Tuesday, June 28th from the Government Center Board Room.

Following approval to accept bid and the FRF Funds for Security Cameras, Auditor Kirk Peysar provided an update to Commissioners on the upcoming 131st Aitkin County Fair and the marquee events.

The Aitkin County Fair is free to attend and runs July 6-9th at the Fairgrounds in Aitkin. Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom presented an amendment to the first reading Solid Waste Ordinance.

The second reading of the ordinance will take place at the July 12th board meeting. Following Committee updates, County Administrator Jessica Seibert met with the Lakes Area United Way and how to get their presence known in their new service area of Aitkin County.

Approval was given for Consent Agenda items including  the contract for the Communications Project to Strateligent, Board of Appeal and Equalization Certification Form, the LG 220 Permit for the Lawler Area Community Club, donation for the Committee for the Awareness & Prevention of Suicide, and an pplication to Purchase Tax-Forefeited Property on Hill Lake.

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners next meets at 9am on Tuesday, June 12th from the Government Center Board Room.
