(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District continues to thrive in keeping Aquatic Invasive Species out of the waters and rewarding individuals with their Boat Dock and Lift Bounty Program.

In our monthly conversation with Steve Hughes, he mentioned that movement of AIS from lake to lake can be attributed to moving docks and lifts.

For individuals to buy or sell a boat dock or lift, the State of Minnesota has regulations established before going back into the water.

Aitkin County has opened the opportunity for people who are selling the dock and lift, the Bounty program will pay you for keeping it out of the water for an additional time period.

Being a part of the Bounty Program is as easy as calling the Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Hughes did reiterate, the goal of the Bounty Program is to stop the spread of AIS.

Learn more about the Bounty program by going to the Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District website or call their officer at 218-927-7284. Our full conversation with Steve Hughes is available on the Wake The Lakes page at www.rjbroadcasting.com.
