Aitkin Public School Board meeting from June 20th
(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin Public Schools Board meeting from June 20th featured the hiring of a new Activities Director, Community Education updates, and talks on transportation from the High School Media Center.
Lara Parkin, on behalf of Community Education, presented to the Board as more activity has taken place over the past year.
Superintendent Dan Stifter provided updated information on the plans for developing the Curriculum Review Plan and Committee.
The Board will be taking into consideration community members, school faculty, and District Assessment Coordinator staff for the Review Committee.
Business Administrator Heather Hipp opened talks on the Fiscal Year 2022 revised budget and preliminar Fiscal Year 2023 budget.
The Board approved the revised FY22 and FY23 Preliminary Budgets.
Superintendent Stifter also gave more insight behind the recommendation to hire Jason Cline as Activities Director for Aitkin Schools.
The Board moved to hire Cline effective July 1st and accepted the resignation of Cline as Dean of Students. The posting of the Dean of Students position at the High School was also added to those motions.
In his Superintendent’s Report, Stifter also began talks of a Van purchase and to authorize the purchase of 2 vans for the District.
The authorization to purchase the vans was approved.
Approval was given for the resignations of Jeremy Rach as Industrial Tech Teacher, Katilin Wake as Dance Coach for the 2022-23 school year, and medical leave for FACS Michaela Monson effective August 29th through November 4th.
The Board also approved the contract between Aitkin Public Schools and Northern Pines for the 2021-22 school year, Principals contracts for 2021-23.
The Aitkin Public School Board’s next meeting will be Monday, July 25th at 6:30pm from the High School Media Center.
