Aitkin School Board approves resignations, hire new HS Principal

(Aitkin, MN) —The Aitkin School Board held a special meeting Monday morning, following the end of the 2021-22 school year, to approve resignations of staff and the hiring of a new High School Principal.

The Board approved the resignations of Agriculture and Industrial Arts teacher Erik Heimark and the Special Education Teacher Laurie Jost. Both positions have been posted for hiring with the Aitkin School District.

Approval was also given for hiring Lisa DeMars as High School Principal effective July 1st, to replace Paul Karelis who retired at the end of the school year. 

Aitkin Superintendent Dan Stifter answered during the meeting from the Board, what the deciding factor was in DeMars accepting the position.

The Aitkin School Board will hold their next meeting on Monday, June 20th at 6:30pm from the High School Media Library.
