American Legion Baseball Roundup From Ada
ADA, MN—There were four American Legion Baseball playoff games Saturday at Tony Sipe Field in Ada.
The day started with Ada blanking Roseau 3-0 as Ames Fassino and Austin McCraven combined on a no-hitter. Fassino threw the first 6 ⅔ innings, with 4 walks and 11 strikeouts. McCraven moved to the mound in the top of the seventh inning, hit one batter and got a ground out to end the game. McCraven and Caspar Kritzberger both had 2 hits for Ada and scored a run.
Then it was Warroad holding on to beat Fertile 5-4. Liam Grover was 2 for 3 with 3 rbi for Warroad and was also the winning pitcher…going 6 ⅔ innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs (3 earned) with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.Ryan Chamernick got the last out for the save. Fertile’s Drew Gulickson took the loss, giving up 7 hits in 6 innings, 5 runs (4 earned), 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Bryer Strem was 2 for 3 for Fertile with 2 runs scored and a run batted in.
The elimination game saw Roseau defeat Fertile 7-3, eliminating Fertile from the Region Tournament. Eli Wensloff was 3 for 4 for Roseau with 2 runs scored. Austin Baumgartner was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi. Lefthander AJ Klint pitched a complete game 5-hitter with 2 walks and 12 strikeouts. Easton Petry took the loss for Fertile, allowing 9 hits, 7 runs (2 earned) with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Caleb Sather was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Fertile.
The winners bracket final saw Warroad take advantage of 6 Ada errors and go on to a 6-2 victory. Kasan Pettershettsky got the win on the mound, allowing 3 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Ryan Chamernick and Hudson Sprouls drove in 2 runs apiece for Warroad. Ada’s Austin McCraven took the loss, going 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 6 runs (one earned), with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.
