Area superintendents recently had the opportunity to lobby down at the State Capital in St Paul, and education funding was a major topic of discussion. Ada Borup West & Win-E-Mac Superintendent Aaron Cook says one of the areas of the things they pushed hard for was the reimplementation of Special Ed Cross Subsidy funding.

Cook says they also had a lot of discussions about the state’s compensatory revenue program.

Cook says events like this are important for area superintendents to attend, as legislators have implemented a lot of policies over the years that have increased costs for Minnesota schools, which has led to a lot of budget shortfalls.

The 2026 Minnesota Legislative Session runs until Monday, May 18 at the latest.
