Avoiding Overeating During The Holidays
Thanksgiving traditionally marks the beginning of the holiday eating season. We’ll be practically surrounded by food at holiday gatherings and parties from now through New Year’s. According to the Calorie Control Council, between the stuffing, gravy and pie the typical Thanksgiving meal gives us 3000 calories and 159 grams of fat. And that’s not counting the appetizers before dinner. Dr. Janese Laster, an expert in nutrition and obesity medicine from Washington, D.C., says that information can be tough to swallow.
Dr. Laster says counting calories and taking smaller portions can certainly help. And she has some suggestions you may not have heard before.
