Bemidji Named Hallmark Top 25 Christmas Christmas Town

The Hallmark Channel recently released its list for the top 25 Christmas Towns across the United States with the winner even be announced to have a Hallmark Christmas Movie to be filmed there. The contest received over 1,500 submissions from various towns around the country and the submissions were accompanied by a 500 word essay and video made to highlight the towns submitted.

Ultimately, it was Carlinville, IL that was named the grand prize winner and will be the site of an upcoming movie as a result, but to be named to their final top 25 finalists was a huge honor for Bemidji, who was the only Minnesota representative to make the top 25.

Hallmark had the following to write about Bemidji:

Bemidji, the First City of Lights, glows with over one million lights across its lakefront, historic downtown, and south shore. The display features the world’s largest pixel gift box and the Midwest’s largest 360-pixel tree! The holidays kick off with the Night We Light Parade, where thousands welcome Santa. The night continues with a traditional countdown to illuminate the city, followed by a dynamic fireworks display over the waterfront.

Bemidji shines with a downtown window display contest and tours of the area’s most illuminated homes. Welcoming you to the Christmas city of the north, Bemidji offers boutique shops, unique lodging and dining opportunities to take your taste buds around the world. The area has over 400 lakes within a 25-mile radius, 400 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, 80 miles for cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing at the Buena Vista Ski Area. Bemidji will surely provide those magical Christmas moments.
