Birds are cool! Especially Peregrine Falcons
Birds are some of the most common animal that can be found all over the world with over 10,000 species coming in different shapes and sizes from flightless to flightful. In Minnesota alone there is documented to be 446 species of birds. Can you believe at one point that use to be 445? Peregrine Falcons are known as one of the fastest animals alive, and you can meet one at your local library thanks to Jackie Fallon, Coordinator of the Minnesota Peregrine Falcon Research and Monitoring Program.
And Jackie Fallon is going on a tour to libraries around Northern Minnesota to showoff the birds!
She has over 20 libraries that she will be visiting throughout these final weeks of July, with one of those stops being out very own International Falls.
Jackie then introduces us to the birds.
We then asked her a little more about her story and what her goal is for these library visits.
So what will people look forward to when seeing the falcons?
Jackie then expands on the uniqueness of Peregrines and of how important it was that they had been brought back.
And we’re sure nobody will try to convince her otherwise, and she then tells us some more ways to learn more information about the program and Peregrines.
So check out their program’s website!
Another super cool fact about Jackie is that she knew the Kratt Brothers (from tv shows like Zaboomafoo and Wild Kratts) before they became tv stars!
Although we believe that makes her the coolest ever, she believes it’s just because of the birds.
So for those in the International Falls-Baudette area make sure you check out your local library!
Jackie Fallon and the Falcons will be visiting Arrowhead libraries from now until July 31st.
