Borderland Battle at Troy Janzen Field, 7 run 6th Inning Wins it for Broncos

Yesterday, the Broncos Softball team was over in Littlefork for the Borderland Battle against the Vikings where after a close slugfest the Broncos would score 7 runs in the 6th inning and win it 17-8. Payton Grashorn drove in four runs on three hits to lead Broncos past Littlefork-Big Falls 17-8, Grashorn singled in the second inning scoring two runs, and singled in the sixth inning scoring two. Alyana Koenig earned the win, the reliever gave up eight hits and five runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Payton Grashorn stepped in the circle first, surrendering three hits and three runs (two earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Tenley Westermen took the loss for LBF, the starting pitcher went seven innings, surrendering 17 runs (six earned) on 13 hits, striking out four and walking three. Kora Gustafson stepped in for relief, giving up 10 runs in five innings and throwing two strikeouts. The Broncos accumulated 13 hits in the game, Grashorn and Mara Buller were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Neva Kokesh, Alyana Koenig, and Peyton Rousseau each collected multiple hits as Kokesh stole two bases.

The Vikings tallied 11 hits in the game with Kora Gustafson leading with three hits in five at bats from the leadoff position. Kadence Schmidtbauer, Kora Gustafson, and Jessica Holte each drove in two runs for LBF as KamBree Gustafson, Kora, and Schmidtbauer each scored two runs.
