On Tuesday night, on the Rainy River Campus, four schools met up to compete in some scrimmages to prepare for the upcoming 24-25 season. Two of the schools were North Woods and Northome/Kelliher, and the other two were our local International Falls Broncos and Littlefork-Big Falls Vikings. I spoke with the only two seniors on the Broncos squad, Piper Tomczak and Kendra Kalstad, about what they were hoping to gain from these scrimmages.

They were then asked about the younger girls on the team, as well as how and who were stepping up.

Then what are they personally working on in this leadup to the new season?

Of course, they were then asked what teams they look forward to playing.

The Broncos begin their season on Friday, November 22nd at Chisholm with tip-off at 7:15pm. I then spoke with a couple girls from the Littlefork squad, seniors Kadence Schmidtbauer and Kora Gustafson, about their hopes for the scrimmages.

Much like the Broncos, Kadence and Kora are the only two seniors on the team. So they were asked if having a younger team could benefit in the long run.

So have there been any underclassmen stepping up already?

They were then asked about their personal goals for their senior season.

As well as how they plan to achieve those goals.

They were then asked about the games they were excited for this season.

Finally, the two seniors were asked if their scrimmage with International Falls would be a preview of this season’s Borderland Battles.

The LBF Vikings will begin their Girl’s Basketball season on Thursday, November 21st at home against Silver Bay with a tip-off at 7:15pm.
