It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, and area health agencies are promoting ways that you can help protect yourself from a cancer late diagnosis. Tammy Carlsrud of Norman Mahnomen Public Health says breast cancer can affect all types of women, but there are factors that can put you more at risk, and that these individuals should be screened for cancer more often.

While the Center for Disease Control recommends breast cancer screening every two years, Carlsrud recommends that you do it every two years.

You can learn more about breast cancer, and cancer resources by going to the Center for Disease control website at www.cdc.gov/cancer/features/breast-cancer
