For part 2 of the 2024-2025 Border Battle between International Falls and Fort Frances, the two teams were honoring something much bigger than hockey. January 7th’s Border Battle also served as a Stick It To Cancer night honoring Lola Wade whose father, Chris Wade, sadly passed away from cancer on December 27th. And Lola had joined Coach Erin Hall in her pre-game interview to talk about her dad.

The Broncos and Muskies girls hockey teams were in action at Bronco arena for the second meeting of the Border Battle. Despite the slow start for both teams, as the score was 0-0 going into the 2nd period, the Muskies would end up pulling ahead with 3 goals in the period. Then, the exclamation point came in the 3rd period with the Muskies 4th goal being scored by Blaire Cross finishing 4-0. Logan Neurinski, Bella Fry, and Marlee Bliss were the other goal-scorers for the Muskies and Ophelia Lucas-Engberg would total 3 assists.

Mara Pelland was in goal for the Broncos and she had 54 saves on the night.

The Muskies will be on the road once more tonight as they head to Dryden for a NORWOSSA contest against the Eagles, the Muskie Boys will also be in Dryden tonight. The Broncos won’t be back on the ice until Thursday the 16th where they’ll play Detroit Lakes in Bronco Arena.
