Broncos Lose at EGF in MN Section 8A Quarterfinals

The East Grand Forks Green Wave hosted the International Falls Broncos in the Quarterfinal round of the MN Section 8A Tournament. The Green Wave splashed on the scoreboard early and didn’t look back enroute to a 13-3 victory.
The Green Wave scored the first five goals of the game in the first nine minutes. The Broncos finally broke onto the scoreboard at the 9:17 mark of the 1st period as Tirzah Carradice found the back of the net to make it 5-1 Green Wave. EGF added one more to close out the first period with a 6-1 lead. The Green Wave started out the second period with two goals in the first four minutes to pump the lead to 8-1. Addison Brown got the lead back down to six with her goal at the 4:25 mark of the second to make it 8-2. EGF added one more to make it 9-2 after two periods. The Green Wave once again scored the first two goals of a period, extending their lead to 11-2 early in the third. Lola Wade added one more for the Broncos in the third to make it 11-3, before the Green Wave tallied two more goals before the end of the game.
Blake Schultz led the Green Wave with five goals. Sophia Lukach added a hat trick for EGF while Jolie Aker put in two goals for the Green Wave. Brooke Hecht, Laurel Kolstoe, and Keely Dronen also added goals for EGF. The Green Wave outshot International Falls, 45-17 in the victory. With the win, the Green Wave move on to the Section 8A Semifinals to clash with the #2 Crookston Pirates on Saturday in Thief River Falls. The Broncos end their season at 3-19-1.
